CITY MARKET.
To the Editor of the “Tiniaru Herald.” Sir.— f sec h.v to-day’s issue of your valuable paper that complaints are life that Stafford S'reel, is too crowded on certain market days. Hoes it not occur to someone that the natural remedy for that special trouble is a proper market much the same as at Home; such as three or four acres or more close handy to town. Corn buyers would have their si amis there, fruit sellers also, and every other kind of saleable article. The expense at first need not be great, except for the land. Small open sheds For stands would do at first. All those things sold in the present salevards could be accommodated there. Anyone should he allowed to set up his own stand by paying the Council for the space. To mention one case, the city of Peterboro, Northants. England, does the same, and it pays all round, and she is about the size ot Timaiu. She used to have all her sales on the streets till she was a nuisance to herself. 1 may mention that yom Mayor is calling out for progress, so 1 suggest the above. —I am, etc PETER BORO. Juno 10, 192-1.
