ELUSIVE COLERIDGE.
DISCUSSION BY AVAIAIATE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
At the meeting of the AVaimate Borough Council on Tuesday evening, evening, an invitation to members of tho Council to be present at a meeting in Timaru on Thursday evening to fully discuss the question of ■ tho continued interruptions of the power supply from Coleridge. His AVorship the Mayor Mr Ay. E. Evans) said that no doubt Councillors had seen the matter fully ventilated in the “Timaru Herald,” and asked it any member wished to move a motion. Councillor Nash: “We are not in a position to do much, as we nave asked the Power Board to take a poll. Councillor Paul: “That does not commit us to anything.” Councillor Nash: “We should sit tight and see what happens.” Councillor Paul: “Timaru did not help us out of trouble. AYe should leave it to them.” Tho Mayor remarked that Timaru seemed to be divided on the question.
Councillor Nash: “We have no power, therefore no complaint.” The Mayor: “We might have a complaint when we get power.” Councillor Nash: “It will probably be in order by then.” Councillor Nash then moved and Councillor Lash seconded “that the letter be received.” Tho motion was carried without dissent.
TO-NIGHT’S MEETING. To-night, commencing at eight o’clock in the Lyceum Theatre, a public meeting will be held to discuss what should be done with a view to securing for the town a more stable supply of electric energy than that provided from Lake Coleridge. A great deal of interest is being taken in the meeting, which promises to be largely attended. Mr C. E. Kerr will preside, and other speakers will include Mr P. R. Climie (organiser for the Canterbury Progress League), Mr Herbert Hall, Mr R. Shillitto, Mr AV. Angland, Air E. Porter, Air A. AI. Paterson, M.R.C.A'.S., and Air AV. O. Long.
