DUBLIC NOTICE is hereby givei pursuant to the provisions o “The Municipal Corporations Act 1920,” that the Timaru Borougl Council purposes making the under mentioned rates for the period com mencing Ist day of April, 1924, anc ending on the 31st day of March ■ 1925, all calculated on the unim proved rateable value of all rateable property on the Borough Valuatioi Roll now in force in the Borough o Timaru, at a special meeting of th said Council to be held at the Muni cipal Chambers, King George’s Place Timaru, at 12 noon on Friday, the l 27th dav of June, 1924. j WATER RATES.—Under the au thority of sections 82 to S 7 inclusive of “The Municipal Corporations Act 1920” fa) in respect of the ordinar> supply on all lands and dwellinghouses to which water is supplied, a rate of two pennies in the pound or the unimproved value, provided tliai if such rate would produce less thar ten shillings in respect of any suet land or dwelling house, a charge ol ten shillings shall be made and levied | (b) On all lands and dwelling houses ’ to which water 'can be but is not supplied, situate within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate not exceeding one-liali of the rates above mentioned. (c) On all buildings other than dwelling houses a rate not exceeding one-kali of the rates mentioned in paragraph { (a) hereof. j HARBOUR RATE. —An Annual ’Harbour Rate (under the authority | of section 4 of the Timaru Harbour (Board Empowering Act, 1890) of *2BB-1000 of a penny (,288d) in the : pound on the unimproved rateable value as aforesaid to pay the levy of the Timaru Harbour Board on the - Borough of Timaru for the said year. I HOSPITAL BOARD RATE.—An : annual Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate (under the authority of sub-sec-tion 9 of section 41 of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909) of 456-1000 of a penny (.456d) in the pound sterling on the unimproved rateable value as aforesaid to pay the levy made by the Sdutk Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board on the Borough of Timaru for the current year. ’ LIBRARY RATE—A Library Rate (under the authority of section 91 of the “Municipal . Corporations Act, 1920”), of 131-1000 of a penny (.131d) in the pound sterling on the unimproved rateable value as aforesaid. GENERAL R^.TE.—An annual General Rate (under the authority of Sections 77, 78, and 79 of the “Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,”) of threepence and one-eighth of a penny in the pound sterling on the unimproved rateable value as aforesaid. The said rates shall each be for the period commencing on the first day of April, 1924, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1925, and shall become due and payable in one sum on the Ist day of August, 1924, at the said Council’s office, King George's Place, Timaru, to David Wilson Virtue, Borough Rate Collector, or to such other Officer as the Council from time to time may appoint to receive same. The above mentioned rates are made and adjusted in accordance and to comply with the requirements of section 9 8 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and are subject to their provisions. The following is a statement of the proposed expenditure, proposed General Rate and estimated Receipts on the District Fund Account for the year ending 31st day of March, 1925: Proposed expenditure £69,546 5s lOd. Estimated Income: General Rate of three pennies and one-eighth of a penny in the pound sterling on the unimproved rateable value yielding £19,226 14s 7d; estimated income from other sources £50,619 11s 3d. The unimproved rateable value of all rateable property on the Borough Valuation Roll for current year ending 31st March, 1925, is £1,47 6,613. A full statement of proposed expenditure and estimated income for such year is open for inspection at the office aforesaid between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on week days, and on Saturdays only between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon, and notice is hereby given that the Valuation Roll and Rate Book are now open for inspection by all persons concerned at the office and hours aforesaid.
