Dominion Roller Flour Mills TIMARU. -£v^vee?v^-ty»sß^x-^sey^«y^Tyvy<x-ty^y No business organisation, in the Dominion of New Zealand, has made more’ rapid and successful achievements in the short perion of eight years than the DOMINION ROLLER FLOUR MILLS OF TIMARU. It, is almost incredible, nevertheless a fact, that as recently as JULY Gth, 1915, the Directors of this Company held their first, meeting. This body of enthusiastic business men decided with indomitable* perseverance that the SILO BRAND Would soon become known throughout New Zealand; nor has their ambitions been frustrated. On the contrary, their most sanguine expectations have been fully realised. As evidence of the extensive growth of this business, the Directors would draw attention to the following 1 particulars:... In July, 1915, the first building contract was let, and the dimensions of the building, which consisted of three storeys, were 40 feet by 25 feet, the floor space measuring 1000 feet. The machinery for a 5 sack plant was also decided upon at this meeting. A few months later it was found that STORAGE FOR WHEAT was necessary, and accordingly tenders were invited for Silos to bold approximately 4000 SAGAS. Tho building which was then elected was practically a duplicate of the former one. Early in 1917, and before the Company had been in existence TWO YEARS, the product of the DOMINION ROLLER FLOUR MILLS had become so POPULAR, and the DEMAND SO GREAT that the Directors increased the capital of the Company by a substantial amount. In May, 1917, still further contracts were let for the purposes of enabling' the Company to cope with the still increasing demand for SILO PURE WHEAT t LOUR. On this occasion a three storey building, each storey measuring 40 feet by 34 feet, was constructed. At this same period another contract was let for the erection of SILOS, with a storage capacity for 13,000 SACKS OE WHEAT. This building measured 48 feet by 30 feet, and stood 70 feet, in height, and was built parallel to the railway line for the expeditious handling of the wheatIn 1920 still further building operations had to be carried out, and at the time the entire building underwent re-construction, with the result that the edifice, when completed, was one of tho most modern Flour Mills in Australasia. In November, 1923, this handsome building was seriously damaged by fire. This did not, however, daunt the ardour of the Directors of the Company, who immediately called tenders lor the restoration of the buildings, and cabled abioad for Machinery, and now the DOMINION ROLLER FLOUR MILLS are fast approaching' completion, and it is anticipated by the Directors that the wheels of their Mills will he going FULL SPEED AHEAD in the course of a few weeks. With a determination that the “SILO” brand of Hour should bold its own in the baking world, the Company resolved, irrespective of cost, that only the latest devices of Milling Machinery should be installed, and it is therefore woithv of note that this Company was the first milling concern in New Zealand to introduce thePlansifter system, they were also the first to introduce me Carter Disc Separator, also the Alphega System in Milling. Idle general public will readily understand from these few particulars why it is that the SILO BRAND OF FLOUR IS SO POPULAR. THE SILO BRAND IS ABSOLUTELY PURE WHEAT FLOUR. Biscuits and Confectionery Another important industry has boon inaugurated by this Company. The motto of the Directors in thcoiy and practice, lias always been ADVANCE WITH THE TIMES, And adhering' to tills motto, they have launched out in a substantial way, in connection with the MANUFACTURE OE BISCUITS AND CONFECTIONERY. An appropriate building' is in course of construction, and machinery of the most up-to-date and labour-saving typos is on order, and as only export BISCUIT AND G’ONFECTIONFRY hands will he employed, the public can mly upon tho Company in tho near future placing nu the markets | of New Zealand BISCUITS AND CONFECTIONERY, which will be up the excellent standard < of its STLO BRAND OF PURE FLOUR, AND THEREFORE SECOND TO NONE. < < < % — $ J.
