MEETING of committee

The -monthly meeting of tlio M aiinataitai School Committee was held m the school last night. Present —Mr T. JR., Mackay (chairman), Mesdames Huddleston, and Minifie, Messrs It. A. Hamilton, T. E. Holdgate, J. Hon, S. Shrimpton, G. T. Slade', and G. Benstead (hon. secretary). HEADMASTER’S REPORT. The headmaster (Mr W. C. Colee), reported that previous to the holidays tho attendance had been very good. At present there were a number oi children absent through colds and other illnesses. The average attendance to date was (367.3 out of a roll number of 727. ' 'During 1 the month Messrs' Stucky, Hashuni and Raymond, inspectors, spent a day at the school. Messrs Webb and Barnes, physical drill instructors, liad inspected the drill of the pupils, and were favourably impressed with the manner m which the exercises were carried out. The slow combustion stoves installed throughout the school are proving themselves much more efficient than the open replaces, there being a more even distribution of the heat.
