MAGISTRATE'S COURT. Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., presided at a sitting of the AYaimate Magistrate s Court yesterday morning. For allowing a car to remain in the main street without haying lights properly trimmed and lighted, LCalder‘was convicted and discharged. For a similar offence was convicted and fined 5s and costs. 0. Rudd was charged with driving a motor car in High Street without having a rear light attached. _ .'defendant was convicted and fined 5s and costs. E. J. Costello (Mr S. J. Fitch) proceeded' against L. Hogan (Mr A. C. Middleton) for the sum of £ls 7s 6d for hoard. After hearing defendant’s story, the Magistrate non-suited plaintiff with costs. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following eases : C. E. Middleditch v. AY. T. Hoane, £4 10s 7d and costs; Beatrice Carmen Reilly v. William Sullivan, £3 Is 6d and costs; Maurice O’Connor v. D. A\. Neill, £1 13s and costs; Waimate Ad vertiser Co. v. H. C. Hendry, £4 Is 3d and costs; H. Williamson v. F. Stewart, £5 5s and costs. Hector Hendry was proceeded against on judgment summonses by ;1) Reg. Hoane, for the sum of £lO 10s, (2) by C. S. Hood, for the sum ot £23. 15s. In the first case debtor was ordered to pay the amount due forthwith, in default ten days’ imprisonment ; and in the second he was ordered to pay amount due, in default 23 days’ imprisonment. C. Tasker was ordered to pay J. Paterson the sum of £6 15s forthwith, in default 6 days’ imprisonment. The Inspector of Awards sued A. E. Craighead for the sum of £lO, for a breach of the hotel employees’ award. Judgment was given for plaintiff, ici the sum of 10s and costs.

BENEVOLENT SOCIETY. At the monthly meeting, of the AA'aimate Ladies’ Benevolent Society, .Mrs G. A. Manchester presided There were also present.—Mesdames Shackleton, Nind, Archer. The ground committee were in structecl to arrange for a suitable paddock to hold the match, and to report to a meeting, to be held next Saturday.

A notice of motion by Mr J. C. Hay at the last meeting, that the annual meeting consider the cpicstion of running the Association on a’membership basis, was dealt with. It was pointed out that the Association was goiug back, financially, year by year, and the match could not bo run without funds. If there was a membership roll they would have a certain income each year. After some discussion, is was decided to run the Association on a membership basis, and to collect donations as heretofore. The subscription was used at 10s.
