MOTOR CYCLE AND CAR COLLIDE.

A collision between a car, and a motor-cycle ridden by Michael Conroy, a ploughman at “The Levels,” occurred on the North Road at the bend past Belfield Hill on Friday night. Conroy had just reached the bend, when a Christchurch car rounded it on the wrong side of the road, and he had no chance to get out of the way. He suffered a crushed foot and severe cut? about the head and right hand, and was removed to the Hospital by the St. John Ambulance.

SUDDEN DEATH

By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 8. Mr Thomas IV. Maude (68), formerly la prominent ‘ Christchurch solicitor, died suddenly on Saturday. Arrangements had been made to place him under an aanaesthetic, when he collapsed and did not recover.

The wad and shot entered his lower left chest, just below the heart, inflicting a bad cnost wound. He was taken to tho hospital, where the shot was extracted. Hope is entertained for his recovery.
