Mr G. S. Cray left Timaru on Saturday by the express for Christchurch. Dr Ulrich returned to Timaru from Dunedin on Saturday. Mr R. L. Wigley returned to Timaru by car, from Christchurch on Saturday. Sir Joseph Ward was a passenger for tlie north by Saturday’s express from Dunedin. Mr W. D. Wallace, formerly clerk of the Court here, came to Timaru from Dunedin on Saturday. The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr W. H. Hagger) was a passenger by the express on Saturday from Christchurch to Dunedin. A cable message from Ottawa reports that Prince Viggo of Denmark iias arrived for his marriage to Miss Eleanor Margaret Green, next Tuesday. The superintendent of the Bank of Australasia has received cabled advice from London to the effect that Mr Kenneth Goschen has been appointed a director of the bank. He is also a director of the Bank of England. At Auckland on Saturday the Boy Scouts farewelled Chief Scout jeilicoe and presented him with a paperweight in the form of a gold scout on a greenstone base. Lady Jeilicoe was presented with a travelling rug by the Girl Guides. On the occasion of his approaching marriage, Mr J. Crerar was the guest of honour at a very pleasant and well attended function at Statlord House, „ii Saturday evening. In presenting Mr Crerar, on behalf of those present, with a handsome dinner service, Mr E. Ryan referred to tho sterling qualities possessed by the prospective benedict, and extended to him, on behalf of his many friends in the house, the universal wish for future happiness and prosperity. sentiments which were readily endorsed by many ethers present. Special reference was also made by other speakers to the manuer in which their guest’s vocal accomplishments were always available for any deserving cause. Mr Crerar suitably responded, and on behalf of tho future Mrs Crerar, thanked his friends for the serviceable and handsome gift, and tho kind sentiments that it carried. A programme of musical items completed a very enjoyable gathering.
