FARMERS’ GATHERING.

SUCCESSFUL MOTOR TRIAL. The progressiveness of the present day farmers was evidenced by the large gathering at Winseombo on Wednesday last. The Cecil Wood Company, owing to repeated requests decided to give a day to their numerous clients around the Eairlie district, with the Fordson tractor, and from the keen interest displayed, there is no doubt it is recognised by even the most, conservative that tho tractor will shortly become a most necessary implement on the farm. Tho class of work executed and the superiority in speed and handling rather amazed some of the “doubting Thomases.” Tho manipulation of the tractor in the able able hands of Air L. Edyveati, straight up the steep pinches on tho sidlings with the plough behind called forth many comments of a favourable nature. All manpor of tests wore asked for by those who wished to he convinced and in no class of work did the tractor fail. Tn fact it was freely stated that horses would never be called upon to tackle such work ns that shown possible by the tractor. On tho following day a further demonstration took place in Mr Hutt’s farm at Sherwood on stony paddocks and ground unworked for seventeen years. Tho work with a double furrow plough proved quite easy to a depth of 71 inches.
