TIMARU SOUTH.

ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW,

As the year rolls round the annual fixtures come due, and amongst tbe recurring events of the life of the Timaru South School the chief in importance is the annual flower show and sale of work. This year a special effort is to be made to bring the proposal to secure an Assembly Hall for the school a little nearer to being an accomplished fact. With this end in view a meeting of ladies was held yesterday afternoon, about thirty being present. The chairman of the School Committee explained that the date selected for the annual function was Saturday, December 8; also, that the permission of the Minister of Internal Affairs had beeu obtained to conduct an art union, for which prizes had been secured. Mr Gibb also detailed the work already done by the men’s committee, and suggested that those present should form themselves into a Working Committee. This was agred to, and Miss ffyfe was elected convener, Mrs Smithers secretary, and Mrs Brewer treasurer. Several detail arrangements were made, and the following stallholders were appointed : —Work stall — Mrs Brewer and Miss Watson; flower and plant stall—Old girl pupils of the school; tea rooms—Mesdames Davie, Gillespie and Townsend; sweets—Mrs Methven and pupil teachers; cake stall —Mrs J. Coupland and Mrs \Vobb; jumble stall —Mrs Strachau; bran tub and Christmas tree—Mrs Mclntosh ana Mrs Millar; soft drinks—Mrs Gibb; calendars, etc. —Miss C. Lindsay; fruit salads —Mesdames McLean, Phillips, and Wilson; produce stall—Mesdames Cranston and Morgan; ice creams, etc. —Mesdames Roller and Gray. ' Schedules for the show are being prepared, and ti is hoped to have the art union tickets on sale next iveek. These will also carry admission to the show. Various other matters were discussed, and everything points to a successful function.
