CURES BY FAITH

HICKSON MISSION IN SYDNEY. A VERY SAD DAY. [SYDNEY SUN SERVICE.] Sydney. There has been “a wonderful exhibition of suffering- and. a wonderful exhibition of faith” throughout the healing- mission conducted at St. Andrew’s Cathedral by Mr Hickson, to quote the words" of the xnissioner, in his address, when the' Cathedral was again crowded. Of tlio suffering there' could be no shadow of doubt. The row of stretchers along the southern wall was a sight to move a heart of stone. Emaciated bodies, some with staring eyes, others with twisted limbs., the features iu many cases twitching witw pain, bore terrible testimony to the suffering. And faith there was. in plenty. There were little children who had never walked. They had been brought along- no doubt full of: faith, and hope was in their poor pleading eyes. They were not responsible for the infirmities that had been theirs from, thecradle. Other little ones, apparently hopeless imbeciles, sat by their guardians, wondering at the hushed solemnity of the place. Old age, too, claimed its victims, and many pitiful cases there were.

Mr Hickson did his customary round of the stricken people-. His two hands, on a. finger of each of which was a large signet ring, ho laid on the heads of those who had come to be healed. His lips moved in prayer, and ho passed on from one patient to another, the Archbishop following in Ins footsteps and going through the same ceremony.
