Melba’s Triumph. IN “ LA BOHEME.’’ BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT (Received 8 p.m., June 3.) London, June 2. “La Bohcme” was a brilliant success -at Covont Garden. Melba sang for tlie first time of the season. The King, the Princesses Royal, Victoria and Maud were present. “Bobeme” is the King’s favourite opera. He led the applause at the close of each act. Critics are unanimous concerning Melba’s triumph and say that it is impossible, listening to her, to imagine that she was a prinia donna at Co vent Gardens 35 years ago. Time has not taken any toll of her voice, which thrilled the house. Their Majesties sent for her and received her at the Royal Box. The queue commenced at six in the morning.-—A. and N.Z. Cable.
