AIONDAY’S REP. ALVTCH. I’EAAI AGAINST CANTERBURY. Much, interest is centring in the first visit of a South Canterbury representative team to oppose Canterbury at Christchurch, which takes place on English Bark on Monday next. The South Canterbury Association, though one of the babies of tile affiliated clubs, lias had a very .successful career during its short existence, and the standard of play has readied a creditably high level. On the last Saturday ol' last season Canterbury sent down a strongly representative side, which proved unable to lower the colours of the local representatives, who retired with a two-goal victory to their credit. This season has only helped to improve the South Canterbury players, and the team which will oppose Canterbury on AJ.onday, though not as selected, should, nevertheless, give a very good account of itself. The only absentee from the original selection will be G. T. Keen, who this season has been the leading goal scorer of the competition, but has been forced today up on account of a leg injury. The team will take the field as follows: —

BELLONGER (Rovers) R. TAYLOII O. CAIWERT (eapt.) (Rovers) (Watersiders) WHITE LEWIS DAYIES (Rangers) (Rovers (Rangers) NICOL : D. AIENZIES (Rovers) (Rangers) AIEIKLE LOGAN J. AIENZIES (Rovers) (Watersiders) (Rangers; The following reserves will make the trip :—Parsons (Rangers) and Forsyth (Rovers), while Keen will also travel, in case of unforeseen circumstances. Accompanying the team will be Mr P. C. Vinnel'l, president of the Association, and Air C. H. Johnstone, of the Management Committee. While' the defence is no doubt sound as a bell, and probably slightly better than, the attack,' the forwards have ability and a high conception of the game' with at least; three sharp-shoot-ers. The party will travel north by the 4.26 p.in. train to-day, and players, officials and others travelling, are asked to meet in front of the station between 3.45 and 4 p.m., when tickets will be issued. Regarding tlie match the Christchurch “Press” states: A holiday attraction of interest has been arranged by the Canterbury Football Association for Alonday, when the Canterbury representatives will meet South Canterbury at English Park. The South Canterbury Association became affiliated last year, and the game has made much progress in the Tima.ru district.. The match, on Afonday will be interesting, in that it is the first time a South Canterbury representative team lias played in Christchurch. Last season it defeated a strong Canterbury team at Timaru, and the skilful play of the winners created a most favourable impression. Amongst the South Canterbury players are many high-class English and Scottish amateurs, and their play has been such that it attracted the attention of the New Zealand selector for the All Black team to tour Australia. The Canterbury team to do duty is probably tho fastest and cleverest combination of players which has ever represented the province, and the visitors will have to show their best form to win. [Tuesday’s ‘‘Herald } ■will have a cletailed report of the match,]
