■ i TEMUKA BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Temuka branch ol' the Pltrnket Society was held at Temuka on Saturday. Members, were present from the subbranches of Temuka, Geraldine, and Pleasant Point. The president (Mrs Armitage) was in' the chair. Apologies were received from Mesdam.es Id. It. Macdonald and Leslie Talbot. The annual report expressed satisfaction at the practical forms the appreciation, of the public had taken, and the continued confidence of the local bodies. It pointed 'out the difficulties of organising such a large district extending from the .Uangitata to Cannington, especially in view of the uncertainty of Government grants. The Dr Truby King visit, as also the biennial conference of the society in Wellington had emphasised the branch’s identity with a large organisation. The balance sheet for the general account showed receipts £370 16s 4d, expenditure £299 6s Ofd, balance £7l 7s 7d; The balance sheet for the car fund showed an increased expenditure of £B2 105.6 d, the receipts being 17219 2s sd, expenditure £197 8s 9d, as against £ll4 18s 3d last year. After the passing of the report and balance sheet the nurse’s report was submitted, the high tone of which showed the fine spirit in which the work was being developed. The average increase of new cases per month had been 28 and the number of visits paid was 6976, an idci-ea.se of 2061 beyond the previous year. 'The car had. run 13,201) miles, over 3000 miles more than the previous year. On the election of officers Mrs Ar milage was re-elected president, an i Mrs J. M. Tripp, vice-president, with a committee o.f Mesdaincs Sinclair Thomson, 13. It. Macdonald (Geraldine) , Itoutledge (Temuka), and Milne and Miss Maze (Pleasant Point) .
