BOXING.

M l 5 >i) LE-WE JG H T CHAMPI OX S HI V The Timaru Boxing Association has been fortunate in securing as the main item for its next programme the Heeney-Parlter contest for the professional middleweight title. The boxing fraternity regard the match as a good one-—-the Timaru Association was not the only body which made a bid for the bout—and there is every prospect of a full house greeting the boxers on Thursday night next. Jack Heeney lias done almost ail his fighting in the North Island, but the Gisborne man’s reputation stands high throughout the Dominion, and there is no possible room for doubt as to his qualifications as a high-class middleweight. Parker has had less experience in the fistic art, but his comparatively shor.t career lias been unusually brilliant, the Seudown fighter being one of the few who annexed a 1 professional championship in his first money match. Parker is thu present cruiser-weight champion, but already lie has worked off the 31bs which he scaled over the middle-weight limit when he defeated McCleary in the heavier class, and a dry out for a clay will bring him well within the required poundage. It is understood that Mr L. Dewar will be appointed to referee the big match. Three six-round preliminaries wi[l'be boxed by amateur competitors.
