CASUALTIES.
PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday, Matilda Barlow, aged 52, wife of J. M. Barlow, of To Aroha, was found drowned in the women’s swimming pool at Hanmer Hospital, where she was a patient.
On Tuesday evening a man whoso name is Simmons was going out of the gate from the Blueclilts Hall, wlifen lie slipped on tlio frosty ground ,and, falling sideways, broke his leg near the ankle. The doorkeeper hoard the man moaning, and immediately communicated with Dr. Woodhouse, who was at a presentation ceremony at the hail. Dr. Woodhouse immediately administered first aid and procured assistance to carry the man to an adjacent schoolhouse, where the fire was lit and the man attended to while the doctor wont home for splints and bandages. Iho doctor, accompanied by Mr Hampton and Mr G. Cocks, then brought the man to the Timaru Hospital, iho hospital was reached about 1 o’clock, ami the patient is now progressing as well as can bo expected.
