TEMUKA SCHOOL. MANAGERS.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka Technical Board of Managers was held on Tuesday evening There were present: Messrs G. B. Cartwright (chanman), M. H. McLeod G. W- Arnntage, F: Sanders, and Gem Thomson, and the director, Mr J- T. Smart. The chairman reported that the Minister of Education, accompanied by the speaker and Mr T. JL>. Burnett ALP., had visited the. school, when the requirements of the boai'd werq listened to sympathetically, and since then advice regarding the requirements had been received from the Department through the Board off Education. With regard to the wool class Messrs Tripp Bros., Orari Gorge, had presented hvo fleeces of wool, and Mr H. Smith, \\ mChester* had also i&nt another lot or wool. , , Tho Education Department wrote with regard to the recognition or small classes, that it had heCu agreed to relax the restrict ion imposed last year to the extent that, in smaller centres recognition will he considered, ii tliere are for continuation subjects at least fifteen pupils offering of all ages, and, for technical classes, nine pupils oxterThree tenders wore received for the renovation of the cookery room, and that of Messrs Chas. PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASS

On. Tuesday evening the opening social of the Presbyterian Bible Glasses was field in the Sabbath School Hall, Temuka, when occasion was also made by the senior classes and choir to make a presentation to Mr and Airs G. A. Air A. Shaw, leader of the Junior Young 'Men's Glass, presided over a large attendance of members and friends, and after a lew introduefoiy remarks opened the programme witli a competition based on the modern young men and. women, this causing gieat amusement. Shaw, said that they all knew that it was their intention that evening to make a presentation to Mr and Mrs G. A. Davey, and without any further remarks, lie called on the Rev. C. Macdonald to make the presentation. The Rev. Macdonald then, in a humorous speech (in which he stated that he had performed the marriage ceremony _ no fewer than 219 times during his ministry), referred to tho good work clone hj' Mr and Mrs Davey in various branches of the Church, and he; presented them with a! silver rose bowl, wishing them health, happiness and prosperity in the future. Mr and Airs Davey, on receiving their present, were mobbed hv members and showed with confetti. Air Davey, on behalf of liis wife and himself, thanked them for the lovely present and kind words spoken that night. Air W: Hughes then sang “Tho Holy City,”- -and had to respond to an 'encore. Supper was handed round, and after more games had been played, a most enjoyable evening was brought to a close by the pronouncing of the Benediction.
