POLO HANDICAP CUP

PAREORA’S UPHILL FICHT. RANvHTIKEI B. WINS. (Special to the “Herald.”) FEILDING, Thursday. The final for the Handicap Hup, and the filial match of the tournament, took place this afternoon at the Fefidipg JocKey Chub's grounds, in perfect woather. The ground was in capual order - , and the game fast, proving very exciting towards the end, with Pareora striving to overtime their handicap. Pareora,, received two goals and itangitikei B 15, and this Handicap proved too much for the former team. Mr Noel W llson was the umpire. Pareora attacked at the start, and from a rush led by Orbell i'areora. got a behind, repeating a few minutes later. In the second spell play was even, Scott and McKelvic for Bangitikoi and Miller for Pareora putting in good work. Scott stopped a hot shot from Orbplf. Pareora had several chances - to score, but missed them through bad shooting. In the third spell Pareora set up an attack, and headed by Orbell carried the oall to the posts where A. S. Elworthy scored the first goal—Pareora 3;Rangitikei 15. Orbell scored on the resumption of play—Pareora 4; ltangitikei 15. Again attacking, Pareora were stopped by Scott. Pareora livened up the play, but the defence of Rangitikei, was sound, Scott in goal being very sure. In the fourth spoil from a penalty Miller hit an easy goal—Pareora 5; Rangitikei 15. Pareora indulged in an. attaclts and H. Eiworthy notched another gpal—Pareora 6; Rangitikei 15. A good attack at high speed by Rangitikei took the 'ball to the goal which it hit . Scott gal'opcd up, hit it through—Pareora 6; Rangitikei 16. Immediately after Pareora saved from, a niolee in front of the goal.

Pareora had much the best of the parly part of the fifth spell, their combination improving, but Scott proved a thorn in their side. Another attack enabled H. Eiworthy to score — Pareora 9; Rangitikei 16. Rangitikei took a hand at attacking, but'the shot at goal went wide. Pareora, by good play, carried the ball to the Rangitikei line, and Orbell poked it through —Pareora 10; Rangitikei 16. Pareora continued to press, and got a behind. At the start of the sixth spell Pareora, pressing, had two chances, hut both shots missed. Pareora continued to atack, but McKclvio saved._ Pareora got two more ’oehinds in quick succession. From a. beautiful shot nt a severe angle Orbell scored, for Pareora —Pareora 11; Rangitikei 16. At - the opening of the seventh sjacll. the ball was carried to the Rangitikei line, and H. Eiworthy scored—Pareora I‘2. Rangitikei 16. McKelvic again staved off an attack, but Pareora were not to be denied, and Orbell scored— Pareora 13; ’.Rangitikei 16. Pareora had two more attempts, tlm ball striking tlio post. They continued to press, and A. S. Eiworthy had a shot without result. Miller pulled a ball bndehis horse, and shot a splendid goal and the time ended—(Pareora 13; Rangifikei B 16).
