BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT (Received 0.5 a.m., Saturday). SYDNEY, Friday. The New Zealand tennis players were outplayed by the Metropolis team atthe. new White City Courts. The weather was bright and warm. With the exception of Sims, the whole team failed to draw blood. The speed of the local players was superior to the visitors whilst all round the brilliancy of the Metropolis plainly disclosed the comparative inferiority of the New Zealand standard. Anderson easily won the first set from Sims, and was not all out in tho second set, in which Sims excelled himself, annexing it before his opponent realised it. Anderson, with excellent driving, easily disposed of Sims in the third set. Peacock and Ollivier gave early promise against Henderson and North, and held the advantage for the first few games. Peacock’s overhead work was a feature, of the display, but his partner was inclined to be patchy, intermingling, terrific smashes with listless attempts at volleying. Henderson and North had p-vviously defeated Sims and Franco, the former executing fine shots at the net and the latter performing the lion’s share of the baseline play. Results: — SINGLES. North heat Wallace 7 —5, 6 —4. Kirkpatrick hco.t Robson, 6—4, 6 —3. Henderson beat France-, 7—5, 7—5. Clemenger beat Peacock, 6—4, 6 —4. Anderson beat Sims, 6—o, 4—6, 6 —l Peach beat Ollivier, 6—l, 7 —5. DOUBLES. Kirkpatrick and Clemenger beat Wallace and Robson, 6 —4, 6 —4. Henderson and North beat Sims and France, 9 —7, 6 —3.
