Before commencing the business tho president moved a vote of condolence with Air C. E. Hassall and Airs P. F. O’Leary, who had both suffered family bereavements.—The motion was carried in silence, all present standing. The following officials were appointed for tho ensuing year:—Referee Air James Lysaght; " judges —running: Alessrs G. Blissott, G. Coulter, R. McLeod, and D. Alulvoy; cycling—Alessrs F. E. South, J. W. McDonald, G. B. Creemcr and R. A. Dixon; music and dancing, Air AV. H. Bell; wrestling and jumping—Alessrs W. Alason, P. Lysaght, J. Brapliy and A. Lysaght; children’s races W. Shearer, H. Turner and C. Ray; timekeepers — Alessrs J. Alcllroy, ’AY. Williamson and D. Ale Donald; results board, Messrs B. Hayes and J. Feely; voucher steward and Jap scorer. Air A. J. Burmester; starter, Mr.B. R. Alacdonald; assistant starter, Mr C. Stock; competitors’ stewards—Alessrs F. Wood, A. J. Bell, If. Thompson, AT. Hamilton and J. The sub-commitfcec reported that the cycle track had been top dressed, and was now in good order. The concert committee reported that a good programme had been arranged for the evening. A vote of thanks was passed to tlie donors of special prizes-—Father O’Connor, Air T. D. Burnett, ALP., Alessrs J. W. MacDonald, F. E. South, J. W. Miller, J. C. South and IC. AlcKenzie. It was decided to engage the services of tho Temuka Pipe Band for the day of the 6ports. The arrangements for catering were left in the hands cf the secretary.

RIVER BOARD. The County Council, sitting as a River Board, heard the report of tlio Engineer as follows: — “Your committee mot and discussed the suggested new boundaries of the. proposed Upper Orari and AValhi Riverdistrict to include a small additional area covering lands Hanking the To Aloana and Kakahu rivers, up to Sharpe’s bridge, thence following the boundary road to the old river district’s Avestern boundary, also to include a narrow strip of land on the Avestern bank of tlio Orari River at tlio north cncl of the district as recommended bv vour commissioners, Alessra Bridges aiid" Stowell. All river protective Avorlis Avero inspected recently, and. beyond tlio settlement of the point of Black and Wade’s groyne, seen by members on their last Adsit, no change has taken place from the month’s flooded state of the Rangitata River. Necessary repairs to this and strengthening of Orari River brush gr.oyncs, Avail receive attention at the proper season, and a further report made dealing with new suggested works in_ both rivers as soon as time permits of tho -necessary examinations, and surveys being made. It is gratifying to note that tho main north “stream of the Rangitata has adopted a more central course m fts bed, relieving the south bank from attack, Avhoro no erosion haa taken place, on the milo length between Black’s and AVado and Allard’s frontages. In the Orari River, -willow -works are making good growth, and are becoming Avell established.” _ The report avus adopted, and it was resolved that Alessrs StoWell and Bridges should lie appointed commissioners to classify lands in the Upper Orari and AVaibi river districts, and that stops should bo taken to have the districts proclaimed, after objections (if any), had been heard and dealt with by tlio Court.
