WOOL. DUNEDIN SALE. By Telegraph—Ptprr Association. DUNEDIN, Wednesday. There is a total of 21,334 bales for the third wool sale on Friday. The N. M. and A. C. report haying received the following cable from tlieir London office in reference to the wool sales which aro at present proceeding:— “The auctions opened here to-day with largo attendance of buyers. Compared with closing rates of last sales, we nuotc —Greasy merino host, unchanged; average, 3s 4d; lialfbrcds, 50 to 06 s-, unchanged; crossbreds, 48 to 50’s, Id lower; 46 to 48’s, Id lower; 44 to 46 s, 3d lower; 40 to 44’s, id lower; 36 to 40’s, Id lower.

At mo Addington marker tliere were heavy yardings to-day m practically all classes of stock. -Laist week's prices generally were maintained. Store sheep.—Tliere was a yarding of about 29,000, including lines from' Marlborougn, Nelson, and the Chathams, some cany-over sheep irom the North Island, the West Coast, and the south. Good ewes sold .somewhat better than last week, but the older sorts were unchanged. Sales of .th<) latter were difficult to make in the final stages. Extra good 2-tooth liaiN bred ewes brought 4ys ; extra good .2tooth 3-bred ewes 295; good 2,4, 6, and 8-tooth ewes 33s to 375; ordinary 25s 6d to 295; good two and crossbred ewes 30s to 33s 6d, 24s to 26s 6d; good failing mouthed ewes 24s 9d to 30s, ordinary 20s to 245, aged 15s to 18s 9d; good 4,6, and 8* tooth wethers 27s to 28s 6d; good forward lambs 24s 9d to-265, ordinary 20s to 245, inferior 17s to 19s 6d, cull 14s 6d to 16s 6d; good threequarterbred ewe lambs 27s lOd; good halfbred 28s 6d. MACKENZIE MERINOS. On March 2 Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., report having held a very successful auction sale of surplus Mackenzie merino- sheep. The Pukaki sale was held in the yards of Mr J. W. Preston, Rhoborougli Downs, and commenced at 9 'a.m. There was a largo attendance of representative buyers from all parts of the Soiitln Island, and stock was subsequently subjected to keen competition. The auctioneers report having sold — Account Mr J. W. Preston —358 sixtooth halfbred ewes,. 335; 136 f. and f.m. hall’brtd ewes, 14s 8d; 92 two and tour-tooth halfbred ewes, 30s 6d; 447 f. and f.m. halfbred ewes, 8s 2d. Account Air A. G. Valentine, Glcnfield Station —294 six and eight-tooth, halfbred wethers, 30s 2d; 604 f. and f.m. merino wethers, 12s. Account Messrs Hughes and Nixon, Pukaki —-338 four and five-year-old halfbred ewes, 14s 7d; 90 six and eighttooth halfbred wethers, 24s 6d. Account Messrs Scott Bros., Ben Dim—l9B four and five-year-old halfbred ewes, 20s; 78 six and eight-tooth half bred wethers, 23s 9(1; 359 four and five-year-old halfbred ewes, 225. At 1 p.m. the sale was continued at Tekapo in the yards kindly loaned by Mr Walter Black, and there was even a.,greater attendance of buyers. Competition continued to- be keen, and on account of Air V. LeCren, Tekapo Station, the firm sold 680 merino and comeback lambs at 16s 7d, and account Air George Murray, Bracmar Station, 400 four and six-tooth wethers at 28s 4d. Several other lots of sheep were sold, and satisfactory prices were realised.
