Sir Thomas MaeKenzie passed through Timaru by express yesterday for the south.

Mr Norman M. Grant, who for many ■years has been connected with the Temuka- Post Office has been transferred to Oulverden.

Mr P. G. Withers, who voluntarily retires from the Public Service on March 31,' was appointed cadet in thei Stamp Duties Office, Christchurch in 1881.

Chief Detective, A. Cameron, of Christchurch, who l has been on sick leava for nearly six months, is making a good recovery and expects to return to duty in about six weeks.

Several members of the W.C.T.U., from this district left by the express yesterday for Invercargill where the nnmig.l meeting of the Union will. be held this week.

Hodgkins, who lias been appointed manager of the Auckland branch of the Bank of New South Wales has arrived in Auckland. Mr Hodgkins, who has been transferred from tho Invercargill branch, succeeds Mr C. W. S. Cox, who went to Auckland some months ago to relievo the late Mr W. H. L. Gawky. Mr Cox goes to Invercargill as manager.
