The i (markable activity in building in Auckland is attracting very much attention (says the “New '/calami' Herald”). It is believed that, the sales of timber during February were- a. record, and this estimate is supported by the evidence in nearly all the suburbs, while the country districts and the inland towns are, experiencing quite a boom in building, in an endeavour to overtake the arrears during the summer. Probably the most conspicuous change in. the building that is now taking place is the extraordinary activity in building shops' in •the subur'.rs. JCrcry tram terminus is the scene of fresh erections, while all along the, various routes individual shops are being put up. On. one line two valuable blocks of land have- changed bands during the last few days, and both rr soon to be covered with shops.
