NOTES AND COMMENTS.
Motor Trains: At the last meeting of the Waipara County Council at Waikare, the following resolution was earned:—“That the Government be approached with a view to placing motor passenger cars on the existing railway lines, instead of encouraging motor-car competition by improving main roads running parallel to the railways.” it was pointed out that the scheme had met with great success in New South Wales, and the line on -which it was tried was the only line that was making a profit. The system was being carried to greater lengths in England (says “Board and Council”). On some of the ljnes one could hire wheels for one’s car, and run the car on the railway lines as far as permitted to travel, when the wheels could be delivered up, and again hired by other persons. Many similar movements may result in the Government’s moving in the mailer!
