NOTHING DOING
As there is no longer any inducsment to hold wheat, the last of the increments having been added to the price, farmers and merchants are now parting with the few small lines which they held. The market for fowl wheat lias fallen on account of the importation of Australian fowl wheat, and it is difficult now to get the maximum prices fixed by tho Government. The oat market is very weak. Some oats were sold this week at 2s fid ex store. B grade Gartons are quoteu at 2s lOd, and A grade at 2s lid on trucks. A good many are offering, and the North Island is prepared to buy at these prices. Since the rain the demand for chaff has fallen off, and to-day's quotation Is £3 15s per ton. The most sensational change in the produce market for the week toox place in linsed. A cable received from Sydney yesterday stated that Calcutta (which rules the world’s linseed market) was offering to supply at £l7 delivered Sydney, _ This would make New Eealand linseed worth £l2 or £l3 on trucks at stations, , , , There is nothing doing in barlej, Which is quoted nominally at 3s fid; 4. line of feed was offered in Timaru yesterday at 3s 4d> but did not find a buyer; The market for grass seeds is lifeless. , , A few lines of potatoes ware sold during the week at £3 5s oft trucks, but tho value to-day is £3, During tlie weelc CiiOO sacks wes?e shipped from Timaru to Auckland, and the northern markets are over supplied, New potatoes aro now being retailed in Timaru at fid per U>,
