The Late Mr Storey.
THU FUNERAL. By Electric Telegraph — Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association Received 10 p.m., Oct. 7th. SYDNEY, Oct. 7. The route of the late Mr Storey’s funeral from the Cathedral to the railway station, for several hours before the cortege moved, was lined with dense crowds. After an impressive service at the Cathedral conducted by the Dean and the Primate of Sydney, the procession, which was headed by the Fire Brigade Band and 30 0 0 marching Unionists, left for Field Mars cemetery. At the railway station special trains wore waiting for those marching. The Cathedra], where, the body lay in state, was visited by many thousands.
The funeral was one of the largest and most representative held in the State, four motor cars being necessary to carry the floral tributes. Members of tlie Federal Labour Party were absent, the secretary telegraphing that they were unable to attend owing to the critical position in the House of Representatives. A FLAG INCIDENT. Oct. 7. When tlie flags at the Town Hail were hoisted at half-mast for MiStorey, the Union Jack flew above the Australian Flag. The Lord Mayor (Mr Lambert) ordered the Australian Flag to be placed above the Union Jack, and now it so flies. The incident caused much adverse comment.
