: HOSPITAL CO Mil ITTEE. Waimato Hospital Committee met on Wednesday. Presents—Alessr.s W. Geddos (chairman), G. DasU, i. Brown, C. E. Manchester, B - Pollock, W. Beer, and J. H. Mitchell. Atkinson wrote ottering tne use of an invalid chair, which was ao cep ted with thanks. . . Mr Beer reported for the Visiting committee that the painting, especially in the operating theatre, required attention. . Idle report of the Hospital surgeon, Dr. E. C. Hayes, was read and adopted. .. \ Dr. T. li. A. Valentine, Director General of Health, asked __ particulars ns to the extent to which doctors were re-imbursed for attendance on indigent persons in outlying districts. It was stated that no such arrangements existed, but that such were badly needed. The Woodside Face and Jaw Hospital (Dunedin), forwarded several photographs of work accomplished m tho direction of grafting new portions to the face. The following statistics for year ending March 81 were presented: — Staff.—Professional, three honorary one paid quarterly; nursing, trained nurses, three; probationers, eignt, indoor, one male and live females, out door, two. Average number ol staff per diem receiving board, 17; number of beds available for patients, general, male 20, female 12; children, male 2, | female 2; infections diseases, male 7, j female 7; isolation, male 2, female 2, . consumptive shelters, male 2; total, male 83; female 23. j In-patients’ collective days’ stay 11,- | 979, average number of beds occupied ; per day 32.8, average number of beds occupied to each of the staff; per day 2.9, patients under treatment during the year, 477; discharged 416, died 33, now in Hospital 28, total 477. Sex of patients was, male 282, female 195; total 477. Out patients treated 52, at- . tendanoes of out-patients 241. j A steady increase m the receipts over i the last four years is shown in the j statistics presented. The following are i the figures: 1920-21, £777 3s; 1919-20, j £426 Is lOd; 1918-19, £lls 2s 6d 1917-18, £44 7s 6d.
