IT HAPPENED IN THE WAIKATO.

He was a farmer. And he had a motor car. The road between his farm and “town” was neither macadam nor concrete, it was pure unadulterated mud of the stickiest typo and of considerable depth. In fact, it was just an ordinary New Zealand country road in its winter dress. This farmer motorist met a kindred spirit in town ono day and invited him for a ran to the farm, “only 12 miles out.” Tlioy started and soon after leaving the comparatively clean streets of the town the stranger began to doubt his wisdom in having accepted the invitation. And still that farmer man’s car kept going strong, ploughing through the mire without sign of skidding or sticking. ’The farm was reached in a very short time considering the condition of the road, and the visitor ha.d a look at the ear that had put up such a performance.
