Captain W. E. L. Napier, M.C., of Auckland, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Colonial Institute, London. Bishop Julius, of Christchurch, is attending a meeting of the standing committee of the Anglican. Sydney, which is being held in Wellington. Dame Nellie Melba arrived by the Niagara recently on her way to Australia after an absence of nearly three years. She is accompanied by her son, Mr J. Armstrong, Mrs Armstrong, and little Miss Pamela Armstrong. A Wellington telegram states that Colonel Meldrum, of New Pulymouth, has accepted an appointment as a Stipendiary Magistrate. Colonel Meldrum served during the war, throughout the Gallipoli campaign and on the Western Front, attaining the rank of Brigadier-General.
