Several times the starter had the crews in line, but on each occasion found it impossible to get the boats away. In the Champion Sculls, for instance, all four lioats became filled with water a while before the start. The Champion Fours was postponed for a second time. Two crews had to row to tho shore to empty their skiffs. At Picton itself calm conditions prevailed, which also obtained as far as tho onemile post, enabling all the minor events to be got off. These provided keen competition, with one or two close finishes. Additional to the results already telegraphed was the Junior Fours. .West End I, Wairau 2, Wanganui Union 3.
