SCHOOL FUND ENTERTAINMENT. A concert and dance in aid of the Hunter Cjcuool luuus was held .n tiie nan on Thursday, August 'J(i. Tho attendance was noc so large us expected, owing largely to sickness m tho diatriot. Mr McNeill u-coupied tho cnair and brieiiy outlined the activi-, ties of the school committer during! the year. The school children gave several items, special praise being duo to u youthful reciter, .Muriel blears, I also to Muster Clifford Holland, who j was much applauded lor his doctor'spart-. Mr and Miss Adam played two i delightful duets, while Mr Jsorthwiek took splendidly with his meludeon solos. Recitations -were given by Miss Thomas and Mr Vrlol. while Mr FcteiHunter was vociferously cheered for his Harry Lauder renderings. Miss Thoma* also gave a song, and two girts, An.uie Cooper and Hilda Shears, sang a duet in, character. The accompaniments were played by Miss Adam. Sweets wore handed round during the interval, and Mr Hunter played some bagpipe music. At the conclusion of tho concert, Mi- McNeill thanked the performers. The supper, supplied by the ladies, was dispensed after the concert, the hall being then cleared for dancing, music for which was supplied by Mr and Miss Adam, while Mr Borthwick played an extra. Mr Arthur Jackson acted as M.C The school committee will do very well toiwards getting tho required f'l.s for the erection of a windmill, the net proceeds of the concert being over iMO.
