IN SEARCH OF IMPROVEMENTS

The reason for this was that Mr Morris, who was at present on his way to tho Geneva Postal Conference, had been instructed to go to Canada and .make exhaustive enquiries into the rural mail services there. Canada led tho world in rural mail-services, and had given country settlers conveniences which were not given in any other part of the world. It was the'idea of the Goverment that when this information about- Canada was availaule._ it would he possible to institute in New Zealand a system to give cheaper and better facilities to settlers in rural districts. This was the reason why tenders for rural services, Ave re being called for only, twelve months.
