In the House 01 Commons, Mr Lloyd George, replying to a question, said the uovernmeut would not remove the restrictions on Dr Mannix's movements, but was prepared to give every assistance to Dr Mannix's mother to visit him in England.

The Irish Hierarchy in a collective protest regarding the treatment of Dr Mannix, say that Dr Mannix only used his right as a citizen of the Empire to criticise the conduct of the Government, and set forth fearlessly in plain and dignified language the c'-aims, of the Australian democracy' and the rights of his own people in Ireland.

Resolutions denouncing the British Government and Mr Lloyd George for refusing to allow.Dr Mannix to enter Ireland were carried at a mass meeting of 15,000 in Madison Square Garden on Sunday night. A meeting of 5000 at Montreal also denounced tlie British authorities' attitude m vigorous terms.
