"MUNICIPAL DELIRIUM."
To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald." leading article on municipal expenditure is happily, very acceptable to many Timaru victims of the loss of prudence by most members of our Borough Council, whose frivolity and unchecked imagination have raised them to the highest rung on the ladder of recklessness. One Councillor with more caution in vain calls a halt with a note of warning and good advice, but all in vain. Sealey Park has lately ' been, and there is more to follow, a resting place for many poor ratepayers' hard earnings. The white salt water elephant has also been the means of ab- • sorbing material and labour which should have been used for municipal dwellings,, but probably 'our Councillors are all well housed. I take it that they intend to use the North End Park as a likely place for a sinking fluid'j for overdrafts, and the hot sea-water baths as a desirable place to get rid of the superfluity of coal Timaru is troubled with.—l am, etc., P.J.
