The concluding day of the Metropolitan trotting meeting was marked by another great performance by Author Dillon, who won from scratch on eacli day of the gathering. His three successes were worth £1350, and it is the general opinion of trotting men that .in his present form he is the best pacer yet seen in the dominion. Rota Peter was another star performer though Jess fortunate in the way of stakes. Handicapped on 4.31, the champion .trotter gave a great exhibition of free-legged trotting by covering two miles in better than 4.43 on a. track which was about 12 seconds slow.

F. E. Jones with four wins (three on horses'trained by himself) was the leading veinsman at tho Metropolitan meeting. J. MeLonuan (Oamaru) handled three winners, and was behind the second Itorse on several occasions. B. Jarden trained and drove Author Dillon in three winning efforts, and won most money during the three days. J. Bryce turned out three winners, two of, which were handled by J. Bryce junr.
