In the Bouse a motion by Mr Hughes for leave to introduce a Bill to make provision for the acceptance of a I'.andato over captured German -possessions in the Pacific, led to a hot- interchange of •compliments between him and Mr Ryan. The proceedings at times became very lively. Mr Ryan demanded that an idea should be given of the contents of the Bill. This ill" Hughes refuser 1 ., and told him to wait until the measure is introduced. He accused _*.lr Ryan of attending the House only in his spare time, and not doing enough vo earn his Parliamentary salary.
Mr Eyan had his revenge, as the Government failed to secure a- oifCrum. and the motion lapsed.
