THE GREAT CAR BATTERY.

SOUTH CANTERBURY "EXIDE" To-day Messrs J. and P. Young announce that they have commenced business as motor car electrical experts in suitable premises, corner Stafford and iSefton Streets, opposite Hydro (irand and next Dominion Hotel. For many years the brothers have been veil known for their treatment of electric generating units for motor cars—in fact, there are very few cars in! South Canterbury which for one reason or another have not come under their hands, either for the treatment of the magneto or the self-starting or lighting systems. For many years Mr .J. 'Young was South Canterbury electrician for the Government telephone and telegraph services, and it was only because promotion would • have meant for him leaving the district that ho left the Department. Towards the end of 1914 the electric self-starter for motor cars came into South Canterbury. The departure was a. new one, and naturally was a. sealed book an any except qualified' electricians. Scon self-starter troubles developed, due to in variety of causes, which readily suggest themselves: and Mr Young was called upon to c>\amiue the starters, and right from the jump was the regular consultant for garage proprietors and foremen for self-starter batteries. From that date. Mr P. Young has also specialised in motor battery work, and his residence, Wai-iti Road, from which he conducted his business up til! row. has been, a place of call for all kinds of cars, from the Ford to the 8-oylinder touring. He will in the new partnership specially attend to the battery work ;md supervise the charging of batteries. Whilst the "Exide' will be specialised in, oil makes of batteries will be overhauled, repaired, a.nd charged, and car owners are invited to bring their cars for inspection, when, a frank report- will be given as to the condition or the car and the necessary corrections, if any, that ar e required. The partners feel that as the first in the field in commencing self-starting, charging, and battery work- in this district they can look to the continued support of their clients whom they have served in tho past, a.nd to the increasing number of those whose work they were not able to ask for previously owing to want of accommodation mid because of the pressure of other work.
