BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL

The Assembly Hall at the Boys' High School was crowded on Thursday night with past and present pupils and friends oi tile bciiooi, >„..i-u Hit; football caps l'or the year were p. osenied by Sir Walter Raymond, president ol the Old lioys' Association. Air Raymond spoke of the old days of the school, about, the late eighties of last, century, and gave some details "of the school's football exploits when he was captain. He \-.ished the 1920 team all success and. congratulated the wiiHiers of places in the Fifteen. The following ihtm received their c; ps — J. Bar! (captain), B. Stewart, I). Sidey, C. Collin?,. R. Older. F. I&smussen, H. Seebeelc, M. Valentine, A. Simmers, L. ' Fyfe, N. Witliell. J. Clarke, D. Goodwin, R. Mathieson, H. Coxhead. During the evening a musical programme, much enjoyed, was gone through, contributed to by Miss Wheeler, Mrs Rule, Miss May Brown, Messrs H. Faylor, L. McCaskill, E-. Osborne, D. Taylor, W. Irwin, and Ralph Hoidgat-e. The School orchestra made a welcome reappearance,- and gave some items in excellent style, and the School, to Mr Tait's piano accompaniment, rendered several -popular choruses. At a break in the proceedings the Rector (Mr ThSbias) mentioned that Mr H. Goodwin was with them for the last time before his departure for Australia, and thanked him for the lively interest he liad nl- ' ways taken in the School, especially in boxing and football, and for the help he had always been ready to give. His ' departure was regretted, but nil the school would congratulate him on bis promotion. Mr Goodwin thanked Mr Thomas and the boys for these _ sentiments. and expressed his intention to keep up always a keen interest in the school.
