YESTERDAY'S METROPOLITAN TROTS. POSTPONED BY RAIN. Per Press Association. _ CMRISQBLURCH, August 13. Owing to heavy ra in the Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting has been postponed till Monday nest. C.J.C. GRAND NATIONAL MEETING NOTES ON EVENTS CONCLUDED. (From our Special Reporter). CIffiISTCHTJRCH, Aug. 13. For tlie first two days of the Grand National meeting S. Trilford Js the most successful trainer, witli three firsts, two seconds, and two thirds, all with jumping horses. The amount in staKes so xar creuited to the toain is a satisfactory commencement of the new season. The staoic horseman, T. Humphries, has been the most successful i-jder at the meeting, h/iv'ing ivon twice and been second twice. The only other double winner so far is A. Vormald.

E. E. Jones, with three wins, heads the list of trainer's and horsemen for the Metropolitan Trotting meeting. D. Jarclen, the trainer of Author Dillon, has driven that horse twice to victory, and has won more in strikes than the Waslidyke trainer. Otiier dual winners ivt tne meeting have been A. Cox (Theseus;, and x<'. Holmes (Sherwood and Park held), though the latter drove only one of the pair himself.

Gaylight, who was destroyed alter the Grand National Hurdles, uon £IUSB in the last racing season tor Mr 0. F. Watson, and was going well in the big race when he fell, so that the Sherwood Downs owner, wqo formerly raced under the name of F. O. Salmond, made an unfortunate s-tart under his own name.

The Metropolitan Trotting Club has applied for permission to hold The postponed meeting on Wednesday. If it had been decided to race, scrutchings would have been numerous, as it •is understood that several prominent trainers would have declined to race their horses after their - experience of Monday.
