, SYDNEY, Aug. 12. Mr Storey, replying to the moliou of censure, said lie wanted no votes from tbe .Nationalists or Progressives., who ■were not favourable to the victimised strikers of 1917 receiving another chance to earn an honest living. He was himself tillable to attend l>r Mannix's farewell, but would not nave hesitated to pay a tribute to any gentleman holding high office irrespective of opinions. Up to the time of his departure from Australia, Dr Mannix had said nothing objectionable, fie expressed the opinion' that the subsequent instigated by Mr Hughes. Defending Mr Justice Ewing's report lie said no one would sentence a prisoner to fifteen years on the word of a scoundrel, adding that the previous Government had induced Scully to leave Aust'alia, offering him a large sum of money and a free passage. Further the Government had kept him for a year and dictated what he should say. Mr Wearne, the Progressive lender, announced that his followers would vote with the Opposition. He would oppose any effort to replace the strikers at tho expense of loyalists. The debate was adjourned.
