The Roil ,ia contained in a glass case 3ft by 2ft 9in, and is beautifully illuminated'. The. uppermost section contains the initials of the Order, nud .number of the Lodge, flanked by ornaments. 'Roll of Honour" is a picture of a kneeling soldier with fixed bayonet protecting a prostrate comrade, the picture '.Deing draped with flags. Then., flanked by decoratted columns comes a list of 107 names of brethren who went to the front, an underlining in red distinguishing the names of sixteenv.iio lost their lives. The emblems of thtOrder are used to decorate the hase3 of the columns at the sides.,

Bro. C. G. Yogeler, who was called upon to unveil the memorial, gave, a short resume of the events leading up to the outbreak of the. war. causing Britain and her Allies to range on the side of truth and- righteousness. The nation that was our enemy had taught its children ita right to be the foremost nation in the. world, and that might was right. Germany's dream had been proved false, and she had last ■her power, honour and self respect. Having sown a wind she had reaped the whirlwind. Foresters in South Canterbury, in keeping with Foresters throughout New Zealand, had responded nobly to the Empire's call. Their Lodge was the largest in the Order in the district, and had given, the largest number of men. Unfortunately many of thosel wlio went away would never return, but their memory would ever be cherished' in grateful, and fond remembrance. He hoped the Roll would never be veiled while their meeting'' were being held, and that it would be looked upon reverently, recording as it did the names of all of their lrumbei; who answered the Empire's call in a time of dire stress, as well as the names of those who paid the greatest price, man could in the cause or" freedom.

Bro. A. F.' Jones, P.D.C.E., also spoke. They as Foresters, lie said, were entitled to feel proud that thenRoll of Honour bore, so many names. They honoured.the living and they honoured the- dead, but as Foresters they sincerely hoped that there would 1 never again 'L>e such an occasion ■as that which was responsible for the unveiling of that memorial.

The Brethren assembled then passed in single file in front of the-. Roll of Honour, each saluting as he passed. The names of the members who made the supreme sacrifice are:—C. E. Stf!vensoi.'., W. A. Ferguson, R, S Calvert A. H. Wallace, H. Collins, W- B. Wotton, S, Logan, S. V, Vincent, J. A. Smith, T. Lane, J. E. Wilds \. Mcßride, E. Tubb G. H. Rawstorn. L. V. Latimer, and C. H. Simmons.
