The returns for the port of Tiniara for the.six mon&s ended Juno 30 have just been issued by Mr C G. Wightman, secretary to the- Tiuiaru Harbour Board. • The _ t registered .tonnage -fur • the period, inwards only, was J. 12,422 tons, as compared with 114,085 for tlic corresponding period of last year. The j previous-"highest shown, was in. 1915 when the tonnage reached 180,038 for the iirst part'' of the year. The imports icached 33,683 tons, as against 3'2,883 for 1919. The .imports include 1,224,330 feet of timber, 'which is the largest amount imported for the past live years. The exports show two record*. The grass seed sent out during the year totalled 2507 sacks, the nearest to this in the last live years being 1411 in 1917. The export of preserved meat also shows a. record, this totalling 180i2 eases, as against 20 in 1916. The wool export has fallen from 23,626 bales last year to 8642 bales for the period ended June last. "Wheat has gone back to 40,845 sacks for this year from 81,355 sacks for the corresponding period of last year, while in 1917 tho export for the first half year was 115,128 sacks. Oats have jucked up and were 84,264 sacks, as against 77,577 last year, and 12.787 in 1918. Barley is also on the rise, being 1253 sacks, as compared with 681 for the same period -last year. Flour readied 103,646 sacks, as against 104,501 for 1919, while potatoes were 39,782 sacks, as compared with. 45,785 for 1919, which, was a record. Frozen mutton •exported amounted to 383.778 carcases, com pared with 451,025 'for 1919. Fruit, cheese, bacon, and hares show a blank so far, as was the case in 1919.
