MAORI PIONEERS v. SOUTHLAND. (Per Press Association.) INYERCARGILL, May 28. Despite a greasy ball, a, fast open game was witnessed when the Maoris met Southland.. 4. wing forward was now played. The visitors, with the wind in the first spell, held the upper hand, attacking: with r orilliant passing movements and putting on three tries, two of which were converted. In the second half the Southland forwards showed stronger form but the game continued open and attractive to the end, tlw Maoris winning hy 18 (four tries, three cif which were converted'* to 8 (a converted try, and a goal from a mark). '
