HAWKER AND GRIEVE. PICKED "DP AT SEA. Australian and' N.Z. Cable Assn. LONDON", May 25. The coastguard at Lewis, in the Hebrides, reports that a Danish steamer picked up Hawker and Grieve. An Admiralty official message states that the steamer Mary transferred Hawker and Grieve to the destroyer "Woolston, which is proceeding to Thurso, SEARCH BY DESTROYERS. The steamer . Samangar reported seeing an aeroplane's red Verey light in the same position as the Faraday. A flotilla of eight British destroyers has returned to Queenstown, relinquishing the search for Hawker -which extended 300 miles westward'of the Irish coast. „ , ST JOHN'S, May 24. Hawker carried a red Verey light to signal all well and.ask his position. CtrFICIAL STATEMENT. ■ ALIGHTED NEAR STEAMER. LONDON, May 25. The Admiralty states that Hawker and Grieve are in' good health. Thev were picked up in latitude 50.20 Nf. longitude 30.0 "W., after alighting dose to the steamer Marie. [The point specified is hnfc little more than half-way from Newfoundland to Ireland.] ADDITIONAL REPORTS.
Received 0.50 am., Mav 27th. LONDON, 'May 25. Admiralty Official. —Hawker alighted owing to a stoppage in the circulating water pips between the radiator and the pump. Th 6 exact position .was 50.20 N. 29.30 W. Another report states that Hawker and Grieve were in the water 1 ninety minutes. I The "Daily Mail" has awarded Grieve £SOOO as a consolation pri?e. HAWKER'S RESCUE. APPLAUDED BY SOLDIEP.S. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCmJROH. May 26. The news that Hawker had been picked up was received at the Returned Soldiers' Association Conference to-day with loud applause. It waß immediately decided to cable to Hawker congratulating him, and expressing appreciation of his great feat.
