A trial" match between the Dominion representative team to tour Australia and an Auckland Rugby League teftm was played yesterday, New Zealand winning by 25 points to 19. Auckland was by far the best team on.the day, and was unlucky to lose. The rep'resentative team showed little combination and won on individual play. For New Zealand Ifwerspn scored three tries, converted the three, and kicked two penalty goals. Waddell and W; Davidson scored ttries for Auckland; Davidson scored two tries and Clarke, Pullan, and Sutton scored a try apiece; Castles and Frances converted a try each. ,- MAORI TOUEING TEAM: DEFEATED-BY OTAGO. ~. The visitors are a, sturdy lot, particularly .'good on lino out work but their passing lacks finish. MacKerrett, O'Connor, and Holmes scored J or Otago, and Wilkinson and Hall for the visitors. The goal kicking was poor no. goals being,registered, and Otago won by 9 points to 6. The match aroused great interest and was witnessed by about 5000 spectators.
