Thoreau , (secretary). | In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet the chairman ! reviewed the important happenings of the year, and said that the year had been a successful one from the farmers' point of view. Mr Laurenson seconded the adoption of the report and balance sheet, and the motion was carried unanimously. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Chairman, Mr 'J. Cleland; vice-chairman, Mr W. H. ' Orbell; treasurer, Mr J. Stewart; auditor, Mr J. Maze; delegate, Mr J. Cleland; executive members, Messrs, W. H. : Orbell and C. E. Stickings; secretary, Mr A. Thoreau; Committee, Messrs J. E. Gardner, N. C. Chapman, A. G. Crossman, A. J. Cleland, G. Stevens, W. Simpson, H. It. Oed, L., Laurenson, J. Murphy, A .Sutherland, G. Butler, J. Armstrong, W. A. Talbot, and R. G. Cleland. ' I Accounts amounting to £l3 .were I passed for payment. . - After discussion the following resolutions.,were passed:—(l). "That as farmers receive so little consideration from the Railway Department this Branch, 'objects to any tax being levied on motor traffic." ~;-■-.,- . :. v i (2) '"That the matter of,;Goviernment !by Elective Executive... should •be deferred for further consideration.";; (3) "That the 'weight of grain sacks and wool packs be : made "uniform according to their respective sizes." The question of all surplus wheat being taken over by the Goyernment was discussed,..but" no decision . was arrived at, as the time, has not yet arrived for the Government to fulfil its promise. . The,chairman said; that owing to the large quantity of wheat on offer the weight per bushel had been raised from 601bs to 621bs, and "this had caused a lot of wheat which on last year's standard would have graded first class, to be placed in the second fsrade. But good samples of wheat would easily be disposed pf at top price if farmers could; hold till the end of the season.
