TIMARU MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald." Sir,—Under the above heading some correspondents are quietly trying Vto ■ push -Mr Craigie. intio tne l/melight. They sjlibly write that no advancement lias 'oeen made since Mr Craigie left the Mayoritl chair. I differ from them, • and- support my clairii ; by pointing out that Mr C!ra;igie's Succesors', as Mayor -and, Councillors, had to spend' a very large sum of money in buying back the people's electric rights, -which/ Mr Craigie ' in his short-sightedness allowed to slip away. They spent a large sum of money in malc-ng proper outlets for t'he drainage system. This Mr Craigie could liave avoided had lit* been the paragon of municipal excellence heis mat]i? oup to he. Many streets liave been widened' or otherwise straightened, which Mr Cra'gie left narrow and crooked. A Quarry was purchased hnd equipped : if Mr Craigie had any foresight whatever lie would have moved the whole town to effect this improvement before land became too dear.
