CASUALTIES.
FATAL GUN ACCIDENT. | A fatal shooting accident occurred at Waikakahi yesterday morning, a well known farmer of the. district, Christopher William Shrimpton, a. married man, 67 years of age. being shot dead through the accidental discharge of his <run. Mr Shrimpton was but rabmfc snooting, and when he. was getting through a wire fence the gun was by some means discharged and Shrimpton received the full contents of the gun in the region 6f the heart. A boy noticed the accident and brought* assistance. The doctor was summoned but life was extinct. An inquest will be held this morning. OTHER GUN ACCIDENTS; (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, March. 31. Leslie Robinson, aged 19, farm labourer, was admitted to hospital this morning from Clydevale, suffer'-ng from severe chest injuries inflicted by a shot gun. His parents reside at Roslyn. INVERCARGILL, March 31. At the inquest on Edward O'Toole, fifteen years of age, a telegraph messenger, a verdict of accidentally shot while taking a pea rifle to pieces was returned. The evidence showed that after firing a few shots deceased rested the muzzle against his abdomen, and was unscrewing its lock when the gun went off.
