CAIRO, March 29. General Sir Edmund Ailcnby informed Egyptian notables that he intends to take stern repressive measures in Egypt,' as order must be restored. THE NATIONALIST RIOTS.

The" "New York Times," commenting on the reported Nationalist riots in Egypt, points out that Egypt came under British rule through the incompetence of tho native Government. If Egypt were givon its independence now probably in a, few years the country wouW.be. in turmoil. Britain .was prepared to give the Egyptians ' selfgovernment by degrees as they fit themselves for the r'csponsbility.
