Y.M.C.A. appeal for tfuhdsi ' Reported that the Mackenzie Country-response, taking in all moneys collected by the various centres and identified as county contributions passed through Tiraaru, ; amounted to ;£643 16s 3d, made up as. follows:—Fairiie: Subscriptions cpllec-; ted by Messrs Hanby and £'262 Os 6d; ladies' patriotic shop £25! 4s 6d, young ladigs' dance £3B 3s' 3d, ; Mackenzie Patriotic Committee £25; total, £349 16s sd. Albury: Per Mr Lindsay.'; £143 18s. Cave:' Per Mr C.. Kerr. £39 ss. Estimated amounts through Timaru, £llO. This amount had been collected at a local cost of £3 5s only, although the special county circulars had been provided by Fairli'e. The Committee accorded a vote of thanks to the collectors above named for their services.

The chairman reported that the third annual appeal for tho special upper Mackenzie Soldiers' Christmas Parcels Fund had been launched, and subscriptions were beginning to come in fairly freely. The joint committees' were aiming: at the sum of £IOO, which, being comparatively small, tlicy anticipated no difficulty in raising. - The Patriotic Shop Committee were making a special effort for the fund on August 31st in Fa.irlie, and a joint mootinr; whs to be held early in September to r arrange about the goods to be sent. It was further reported that the Geraldine Soldiers' Entertainment Committee had asked the Fairlie Commit-! tee to provide the programme at the Geraldine send-off: on SeDtember oth. The Committee's concert party, which was organised to pay a return visit to Temulca. had practically disbanded, but it bad been reorganised to answer the call of .deraldi.no. It was now practising again under Mr F. H. Bucklev.

The Rev. A. C. W. Standage was elected a member of the Committee.

GENERAL. The Fairlie School Committee held a verv successful euchre party in aid of their funds, the tables be'ng tilled t 0 overflowing. The prizes were won by Mrs Hanby and Mr S. Braddick. Dancing followed the cards, and at midnight tho party, which was well managed and very enjoyable, broke up. The chairman (Mr C. J. Talbot, M.P.) announced that tho committee intended to hold another party, ,to conclude with a large social iii tho main hall.

Two new members were initiated at Lodge Gladstone, 1.0.0. F., on Wednesday night by the N.G., Bro. Wriirht, with the assistance of a- full complement of officers and members. ' Bro. C. J. Talbot, G.AY., read the Grand Secretary's report on the lodge record, which complimented the lodge on its record of progress in numbers and financial standing. The X.G. extended in Bro. T. Adams a'glad welcome from the Lodge on bis return from the war, and also gave hearty good wishes to I'.G. Bro. E. Saunders on his goinji into camp.
